Cardiology, ECG and Echocardiology

Just like humans, our animals can suffer from heart disease which can present in a variety of ways. Echocardiography, also known as cardiac ultrasound allows our vets to visualise structures inside and outside the heart, visualise the movement of the chambers, and look at the valves in motion. In addition to producing images of the heart, echocardiography can also tell us about heart function. Use of cardiac ultrasound a provides timely and precise diagnosis which can translate to earlier disease detection and treatment for your pet. Fortunately for our patients this procedure is non invasive, painless and rarely requires sedation. If abnormalities in the rhythm of the heart beat are detected, an ECG can be used to monitor the electrical activity of the heart and identify any arrhythmias.Again this procedure is non invasive and does not require sedation.
